Dominican Republic Travel Requirements

As of April of 2005, Dominican Republic law requires that children under 18, traveling with an adult or guardian other than their parent, must present written authorization from the parent(s), on the day of departure.

This authorization must state that the parent(s) have given consent for the child to leave the country. The letter must be written in Spanish and notarized at a Dominican Consulate in the United States. If the child is traveling with only one parent, the letter is not necessary. In addition, Dominican immigration authorities have recently begun restricting the ability of children to depart the country with only a birth certificate, especially when those children are American citizens of Dominican heritage.

If the child's last name differs from the last name of the accompanying parent(s), proof of parentage is required. Parent's name change must be documented (i.e. marriage certificate). If the minor is 14-17 on the day of departure, they must hold either a valid passport or a valid, official photo ID along with their birth certificate. Anyone under 18 on the day of departure will be denied boarding if not accompanied by an adult 18 years or older.

Grenadines 

With a total of three square miles, Canouan Island is one of the larger of the 32 islands that comprise St. Vincent and the Grenadines. Canouan is set about half way down the island group which drape like a watch chain between St. Vincent and Grenada.

Fun Fact: Residents of St. Kitts have gone out of their way to ensure that their island remains virtually unchanged by modern sprawl. Island law forbids any building from being taller than the surrounding palm trees. St Kitts is full of history, nature and unspoiled beauty that is waiting to be seen and enjoyed.

St. Lucia

Fun Fact: St. Lucia is the nature lovers delight, with topography ranging from lush mountains and volcano's to waterfalls and sandy beaches.

St. Maarten / St. Martin with its busy cruise port and bustling commercial district, has long been an active center for trade and tourism. Wide beaches along the coast, full of sunbathers and surfers, seem a far cry from the quiet country roads and small towns of the hillsides.

In the evening, the hills of the interior become even more peaceful, while the glittering casinos and pulsing clubs of the coast just begin to come alive. Emphasizing comfort and elegance, the beaches are secluded, and some of the restaurants offer the finest dining experiences in the Caribbean.

The latest French fashions can be found in many of the shops, and the smell of fresh croissants and pastries mixes everywhere with the spicy aromas of West Indian cooking. Small cafés and charming bistros add a decidedly Gaelic and cosmopolitan flair to the place.

Tobago

Fun Fact: Tobago’s peaceful seclusion is the reason that the famous novel Robinson Crusoe is believed to be set there. Also, the 1960 film Swiss Family Robinson, a story about a family shipwrecked on a tropical island, was filmed in Tobago.

Turks & Caicos

Fun Fact: The Turks and Caicos islands are named after the indigenous Turk's Head "fez" cactus, and the Lucayan term "caya hico" meaning string of islands.

US VIRGIN ISLANDS VACATION TIP: As early as Jan 8th 2007 passports are required for international air travel. However, NO passport will be required for US citizens flying to the US Virgin Islands of St. Thomas & St. Croix!

Fun Fact: While in the U.S. Virgin Islands, be sure to try a favorite drink of the locals – milk shakes with a splash of rum. They’re often infused with soursop, mango or banana flavoring.

St. Thomas Fun Fact: St. Thomas is home to one of the oldest standing structures in the Virgin Islands, Fort Christian. Built in 1672 and now a U.S. national landmark and museum, this brick fortress protected the island from pirates and European armadas.

St. John's Fun Fact: Two-thirds of St. John is comprised of the Virgin Islands National Park. It features nature trails, secluded coves, plantation ruins, dazzling white beaches and petrographs etched into rocky outcrops.
